💬 IIC President Martina Le Gall Maláková on national television discussing digital transformation, data, and Slovakia’s future
In the Comments of the Day TV programme, the President of the Industry Innovation Cluster (IIC), Martina Le Gall Maláková, spoke about how digital transformation is reshaping our lives, labour markets, and the functioning of the state.
🔹 Digitalisation vs. Digital Transformation
Digital transformation is far more than IT. It impacts manufacturing, healthcare, education, and the public sector. It represents a holistic change where new technologies influence every aspect of society.
🔹 Real examples from practice
Across OECD countries, AI is already assisting with patient diagnostics and cancer treatment. Secure cross-border data sharing can significantly improve healthcare, including here in Slovakia.
🔹 Data as key capital
Data is becoming the most valuable asset of modern economies. Secure data exchange can enhance city services, mobility, innovation, and boost competitiveness — especially in the automotive industry, where data-sharing is already a requirement for suppliers.
🔹 The need for legislation and regulation
Without modern rules, Europe cannot protect itself from AI-related risks. Slovakia still lacks its national Data Act, essential for the public sector. Regulations should not be seen as barriers — they protect the values on which Europe is built.
🔹 Impact on the labour market
Jobs will change, and some will disappear. The response is lifelong learning, openness to new technologies, and the ability to adapt.
🔹 European cooperation and Slovakia’s potential
Slovakia has strong potential: talented IT specialists, an appetite for innovation, and improving universities. The key is to stay engaged in European projects and to create conditions that attract young talent back home.
🔹 And what about fears of AI?
As she noted: “Yes, I do have concerns. But I believe we will manage.”
We should harness technology — not fear it.
