It was an honour for the Industry Innovation Cluster (IIC) to represent the voice of SMEs on the topic of Artificial Intelligence in the workplace at the OECD, in a meeting organised jointly by Business at OECD (BIAC) and the Trade Union Advisory Committee (TUAC) to the OECD.
The discussion explored the vast opportunities that AI adoption can bring to small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as the challenges they face in making it a reality. One of the critical issues addressed was the size and quality of dataavailable at SMEs — a fundamental factor in enabling the implementation of trustworthy AI. Without access to reliable, high-quality data, the full potential of AI for SMEs cannot be realised.
This is exactly where our Develop Data Exchange project, co-funded by the Interreg Danube Region Programme, can make a positive impact — by improving data accessibility, fostering cross-sector collaboration, and supporting the creation of data ecosystems that SMEs can rely on for innovation.
We would like to thank Benoit Labrousse, Paula Bogantes, Mathias Cormann, Charles (Rick) Johnston, Liz Shuler, Florent Edouard, Hans-Erik Skjæggerud, and Stefano Scarpetta for their valuable insights and engaging discussion.
